Message from the Past President

Alain Belliveau I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. For those of you who are not familiar with me, my name is Alain Belliveau and I am the current chair of The Bay WindField. I am a founding director of Bay Wind and briefly chaired the board prior to my resignation in December of 2004. My resignation was due to a change in employment where I had accepted a position with Fourth Generation Capital Corp. After my employment ceased with Fourth Generation, I rejoined The Bay and have since been re-appointed to the position of Chair. I am certain that with the continued guidance of the board of directors and past executives that we will continue to make sound business decisions on behalf of all shareholders and prosper in the years to come.

View of Wind Turbine This new year brings a few changes to the board of directors of Bay Wind. One of the founding directors, Coral Belliveau, has resigned from the board after serving for seven years. I would like to thank Coral for his insights and support over the years. I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce new directors to the board. We are please to have on board the following new directors: Tom Goodwin, David Walton, and Randal Amero. These individuals will provide fresh and new input to our decisions and we welcome their joining the Bay Wind team.

Nova Scotia Power states that about ten percent of the power we use every day in Nova Scotia comes from renewable energy sources including hydro, wind, tidal and biomass. This number represents approximately 17% of their total capacity totaling 400 MW of renewable energy capacity. Nova Scotia Power has recently completed an RFP (Request For Proposal) for an additional 130 MW of renewable energy, to put this number in perspective, it will be enough to power approximately 40,000 homes in Nova Scotia.

SWFI is a Nova Scotia based renewable energy provider which initially stemmed from the community CEDIF groups but has since been repackaged to work with the local CEDIF companies not as a collective group thereof. They are presently involved in many projects in NS and they have a great deal of potential we look forward to their success in renewable energy.
